how early does a person get this?

how new is this , and frequent is this now?

please explain short history.

how often is anger repressed and the cause of this?

which other emotions?

please explain.

The plain & simple answer is that ADHD is a name that is used as a cover all for a whole range of problems and its not a singular cause or result. it can stem from very simple things with a sensitive child to horrific happenings to a strong child and everything in-between, it all boils down to an inability to concentrate and the minds way of distracting its self.

how do you deal with your immediate family, that blame you for mistakes you made in the past, that supressed?

ADHD is a handy label for a lot of things. many reputable psychologists question its existance as a chemical disorder of the brain. siding with the socio-constructionalist view that the condition is a product of society. a label which is given to problem children to stigmatise them. ADHD is a dangerous label and leads to thousand of children being prescribed synthetic amphetamines when all they needed was structure and guidance.

and before you write me off as a nutter. i am a parent who child was diagnosed with ADHD. i refused these harmful drugs and introduced more structure to his life. it worked wonders and i am happy in the knowledge that i haven’t branded him with this label.

p.s I study both psychology and sociology at degree level, don’t assume i’m uninformed x

No, ADHD is a medical condition caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. The person’s brain does not make enough of a certain chemical, which leads to disorganization and distractibility.

If you have ADHD you have it through your entire lifetime. However, it is not easy to diagnose the condition until the child starts school.

ADHD has been around since the beginning of time, but it has only been recognized as a disorder since the 20th century.

Repressing emotions is an entirely different issue all together. It doesn’t have anything to do with ADHD.

ADHD is not caused by a psychological problem, ADHD is not a psychological problem but a neurological problem. It is caused by an inborn chemical imbalance in the brain. There is no doubt in virtually all medical and scientific circles that this condition is real as the brain differences have been constantly seen on scans for more than 2 decades. I myself have ADHD and recieved a brain scan and saw the obvious differences in my brain activity compared to normal; before medication.

how often is anger repressed and the cause of this?

Never. This condition is not caused by repressed anger. because that is one of the biggest hallmarks of what ADHD is. People with ADHD can’t control their impulses and act out their emotions. they can’t repress their anger. A normal person may repress anger and then they may have problems in other ways. But ADHD sufferers act purely oin their whims a lot of the time and if they are angry they will often react immediatly in sometime saggressive ways but wont repress it.

    which other emotions?

This does not cause ADHD, for the same reason as above. ADHD sufferers cant repress their emotions. that is a major problem. A normal person can repress their emotions and let them out at more appropriate circumstances. People with ADHD act out their emotions on the spot.

What conditions is it associated with?

ADHD often occurs with other conditions. Just the way a child with exma is generally more prone to conditions like asthma, hayfever and so on. So to are kids with ADHD more prone to other neurological problems. People with ADHD are more prone to suffer from specific learning disabilities, Oppositional defiance disorder, conduct disorder and adult personality disorders.

Also because off the stresses they suffer from their ADHD many do develop problems of low self esteem, depression and other emotional problems.

How early does a person get this?

ADHD is an inborn disorder, a person can’t ‘catch’ it or develop it later in life. A child is born with it. problems are rarely obvious in infancy though, although most ADHD babies are far more active and require much less sleep than other babies. The problem is that all small children have a similar immaturity in their brrain to what is happening in the ADHD brain. The difference is that a normal child will outgrow this as their brain matures naturally, while an ADHD child wont outgrow the problem.

By the time they child is 4-6 their ADHD is quite clear. In order to be diagnosed the problems must be obvious from at least 6 years of age.

how new is this , and frequent is this now?

    please explain short history.

This condition is not new at all, in fact most scientists and doctors beleive it has existed since the begining of time. When you read through history books they are full of examples of people who would be diagnosed with ADHD today. But in those days very little was known about any sort of health problems.

The condition was first discovered to be a condition in the early 1900′s. It was given many different names throughout the decades that followed including oragnic driveness, restelessness syndrome, mininmal brain injury (MBI), Mininmal brain damage (MBD and minimal brain dysfuntion (MBD). Stimulant medications have been used to treat this condition since the 1930′s.

In the 50′s and 60′s the condition was being diagnosed a lot, but then it was called hyperactivity and was treated with diet and Ritalin. It seemed like it wasn’t around like it is today because unlike in todays society people did not talk about their personal problems in the same way they do now.

In 1980 the name of the condition was changed to Attention deficit Disorder (ADD) this made people thing that it didnt exist before 1980 but it did,m it was just called something else. In 1987 the name was changed to attention deficit Hyperactivity disorder ADHD as it is still called today.
